Our background has a bearing on our personal lives and this may affect our mindset.

“Our background affects us later on in life. And before we make decisions, one may be cursed and sometimes nothing materializes, said Bishop Pride Sibiya during the ongoing Tiyambuke International Christian Convention (TICC).

“We are born with personalities based on genetics. When parents come together and bring a peculiar child, the child assumes traits from both parents,” Bishop Sibiya said. “Our personalities affect us later in life.”

We don’t have a choice and between parents and the environment where we originate.

“You can not choose in life and the environment where we are born. And the people around you and their belief and the cultural system become yours as well.”

The schooling curricular has an impact on the way one sees the world. “Schools teach academic excellence and not life issues. Children may fail in academics and not life. The religious church was taught to shut themselves out, and leave everything else.”

A negative mindset has slowed the progress of the church but that must shift.

“Our people have a failure mindset and we must remedy that. Business is not all rosy, business people must not give up easily. How can the church become rich, make use of land, and pay workers and pastors.”

Churches must create smart ways to make money and use what they have to make a living, Bishop Sibiya noted.
