Discipline and focus have kept songwriter Takesure Zamar Ncube relevant.

“Some of the hugs we get after we leave the stage, yooooo! You have to be strong, remain focused and show fans that you’re a married man in their state of happiness otherwise...,” revealed Takesure.

“I am not afraid to start from zero in a foreign country because I started from zero with my group Worship Addicts and we steadily grew to where we are today and I believe I can be successful as well in South Africa,” Takesure said.

The gospel musician wants to conquer Africa with his voice. When he shared his vision with his wife, Kudzai, she left her job as a chartered account to join him in fulfilling his big dream.

“When I shared my vision of conquering Africa (with the launch pad being South Africa) with my wife, I was shocked at the way she quickly said she was leaving her job to support me,” revealed Takesure to a local weekly publication. “It isn’t easy for someone to just say that and this reaction made me feel loved.”

Today, his wife who is also a musician runs a marketing and branding company which she uses to market his music. Also, she is set to feature on his forthcoming album.

Born 39 years ago in Beitbridge, the hailed gospel musician was homeless at some stage, and life was tough, but the episode has humbled him. In 2005, his career path began when he studied music in Bulawayo, then a taught music in Harare.

“Growing up I went through some humbling experiences such as being homeless and ultimately becoming a street kid, these experiences have played a fundamental role in shaping who I am today. I cannot find the strength to be pompous,” recalled Takesure.

Worship Addicts was formed in 2011. Then he later joined Joyous Celebration in South Africa. For his efforts, he won the best of Africa Award from SABC Crown Gospel Awards. Zama is a versatile musician who can play various instruments, not limited to the guitar and keyboards.

The singer grew up in Gwanda and his love for music was ignited at the age of 10. As he grew older, he started refining his gift and learning to play various musical instruments. Takesure is fluent and has sung in seven languages, making him adaptable to the African music scene.

In 2014 he relocated to South Africa to join Joyous Celebration, then the Bold Music stable. Over 20 South Africa gospel musicians attended his first live DVD recording in 2017 in deal three year deal estimated at US$66,000.

“I recently signed a deal with South Africa-based label called Bold Music, which is owned by Pastor Tebs David, who happens to be the mentor of artistes such as pastors Benjamin Dube and Solly Mahlangu,” revealed Takesure.

The serial worshiper had an option to stay with Joyous Celebration but he chose to launch a solo project. “I had an option to stay with Joyous Celebration and still do my project but I chose to leave and focus on my own project, he said.
