FIFA has instructed Kaizer Chiefs to pay R233 600 [USD13000] to Zimbabwe’s Chicken Inn over the transfer of defender Teenage Hadebe to Yeni Malatyaspor of Turkey.
FIFA’s tribunal revealed that Amakhosi risk being banned from signing new players, either nationally or internationally, in three consecutive transfer windows if they do not pay the said amount.Hadebe, who is now based in the United States of America [USA], joined the Soweto giants in 2017 with a clause in his contract stating that his former club, Chicken Inn, would reap financial rewards when he is sold to another club.
As a result, the 2015 Zimbabwean champions filed a complaint to FIFA when they did not benefit from the player’s transfer to Yeni Malatyaspor in 2019.
Initially, indications are that Hadebe joined the Turkey club as a free agent. However, it was unearthed that the Arthur Zwane coached-side indeed sold him, albeit for an undisclosed fee.
And the FIFA Players’ Status Chamber ruled that Chiefs must pay the Zimbabwean club. “The claim of the claimant, Chicken Inn FC, is partially accepted,” IFA’s tribunal chief legal and compliance officer Emilio García Silvero said in a letter.

Until the date of effective payment; USD 7,724.64 [ R132 736,66] as outstanding remuneration plus 5% interest per annum as from 16 January 2022 until the date of effective payment.
“Full payment (including all applicable interest) shall be made to the bank account indicated in the enclosed Bank Account Registration Form.”
Emilio García Silvero warned that the Soweto giants might be suspended for three transfer windows if they do not comply. “The respondent shall be banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, up until the due amount is paid,” reads the letter.
“The maximum duration of the ban shall be of up to three entire and consecutive registration periods.
“The present matter shall be submitted, upon request, to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee in the event that full payment (including all applicable interest) is still not made by the end of the three entire and consecutive registration periods.
“The consequences shall only be enforced at the request of the claimant in accordance with article. 24 paragraph. 7 and 8 and article. 25 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players.
“The final costs of the proceedings in the amount of USD 5,000 [R85 905,10] are to be paid by the respondent to FIFA
“FIFA will reimburse to the claimant (Chicken Inn) the advance of costs paid at the start of the present proceedings. The 27-year-old centre-back made over 35 appearances for Chiefs, including in the CAF Confederations Cup.
Following his departure from Yeni Malatyaspor, Hadebe joined Major League Soccer [MLS] side Houston Dynamo FC. - Online Sources
