Current AS Roma coach, José Mourinho, “The Special One,” former Chelsea, Manchester United, and Inter Milan coach, psyched up Highlanders in Zimbabwe ahead of their Premier Soccer League encounter against ZPC Kariba FC.

Mourinho and Highlanders coach, Baltemar Brito, previously worked together when Brito served as Mourinho’s assistant coach at FC Porto in Portugal, and Chelsea in England.

Highlanders, yesterday, extended their lead on top of the Zimbabwe Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) by just one point after they were held to a nil-all draw by ZPC Kariba.

Currently, Highlanders sit atop the league table with 10 wins, 8 draws, and four goals conceded from their 18 matches played.

The Special One: José Mourinho Uplifts Highlanders

Currently, Highlanders sit atop the league table with 10 wins, 8 draws, and four goals conceded from their 18 matches played. The Champions League winner said in a video:

“Hello, everyone at Highlanders. I am sending you a message because Mr Brito is my brother. We fought together for many years [and] we won many trophies together. He is and will always be my brother, and I’m so happy that he is doing a great job with you guys at the Highlanders.

“I want to wish you the best for the game against [ZPC] Kariba. You are top of the league, so let’s get more points, and hopefully you Highlanders can also have an impact and help the future of the Zimbabwe National Team. So all the best for you guys, and get more points.”

Bosso played against ZPC Kariba yesterday and drew nil all. Highlanders, who are unbeaten this season, are currently sitting at the top of the log table with a five-point league over Ngezi Platinum FC in second position.

The Bulawayo side appointed Portuguese Baltemar Jose De Oliveira Brito as their new head coach in June 2022.

Brito was together with Jose Mourinho at FC Porto as his assistant when the self-proclaimed Special One stunned the world and guided the Portuguese side to Champions League success in 2004. They were also together during Mourinho’s first spell at Chelsea.

In the 2001–02 campaign, at U.D. Leiria, Brito started a link with José Mourinho that would last eight years. The assistant was part of a quartet that also included fitness coach Rui Faria, goalkeeping coach Silvino Louro and chief scout André Villas-Boas that followed the young manager from FC Porto to Chelsea.

Brito also specialised in audio-visual work to prepare the team for matches. As Mourinho left the Premier League side early into 2007–08, so did his entire staff. On 5 June 2010, he was appointed head coach at C.F. Os Belenenses in the Portuguese second level, but was sacked the following month before the season had even started.

On 18 May 2013, after a series of poor results, Brito was fired by Grêmio Esportivo Osasco. On 8 January 2018, Brito became head coach at Union Titus Pétange, a club of the first Luxembourgish league. He left the club in December 2018.

On 3 June 2022 Highlanders F.C. announced the appointment of Britto as their senior team' coach. - Online Sources
