Zodwa Wabantu's 'exotic' ways of performing have seen her entry into South Africa's neighbouring country, Lesotho, denied for the second time.

"Her dancing half naked would be a crime," a letter by Lesotho’s minister of local government, chieftainship, home affairs and police, Lebona Lephema stated.

The formal restriction and refusal letter stated that the controversial artist “will be denied entry” into Lesotho. Lephema said the sangoma “is known to perform without wearing anything decent in public, the conduct which amounts to public indecency”.

It is unclear when Zodwa was meant to perform in Lesotho. However, it is not the first time the mountainous country had a problem with the performer. In December 2017, Lesotho members of Parliament opposed to her performing at an event in Maseru.

She has had a fair share of being banned from several African countries for reasons of morals and Christian values. In June last year, the Malawi government refused to clear her entertainment permit for her perform or be part of the Winter amapiano vibes. The letter by the government stated that:

In March 2018, the artist was stopped at a Zambian airport and deported back home after she went to perform despite the country having banned her, because she’d “undermined national values” and Christian morals. The controversial socialite also had her gigs cancelled in Zimbabwe for the same reasons of performing half naked.

City Press has reached out to the entertainer and the article will be updated when the response is received. In 2022, controversial entertainer was banned from entering and performing in Malawi at the “Winter Amapiano Vibez”. Now she has been given the boot by the government of Lesotho.

The racy dancer, who has a large fan-base around Africa and is well-known for providing exotic entertainment, was meant to perform at the Elibo Guest House in Maseru over the weekend.

Zodwa was supposed to perform in Lesotho and this is what was said by the government of Lesotho. Social media users added their two cents regarding the issue. Some applauded the government for action while others denounced it.
