Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela feels it made sense to bring in Leonardo Castro when the team could be doing better upfront.

Castro will join the Glamour Boys in January from Mamelodi Sundowns as the Soweto giants aim to improve their return of 13 goals from 15 Premiership matches.

The Colombian striker, who has only played thrice in all competitions this season, scored 15 times in 57 outings for Downs in a two-and-a-half year stay at Chloorkop.

Siphiwe Tshabalala is currently Amakhosi's top scorer with four goals in 2017/18.

"It's normal, it's tradition. We try to rectify in areas where we think we can do better and one good thing is that we still have space for a foreigner. It would only be logical to look in where you can," said Komphela.

"Once things become clearer we'll take it from there, but it is not as easy as you and I are talking about... there's a lot of work to be done."

He added: "Whatever it is, you are not dealing alone but you are dealing with others. So it becomes a bit difficult but we are willing to do go through these difficulties.

"But the most important thing is to concentrate in-house and try and rectify, get the momentum and wins, and things will get better." - Kick Off
