Johannesburg - Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Fabian McCarthy has shared his preference in regard with the next coach to replace the departed Steve Komphela at Amakhosi.
"I just hope that whoever they're busy negotiating with or have already sealed a deal with will be somebody like, in my opinion, that needs to be strong in terms of character.
"He [the new coach] needs to be very strong in terms of experience. He needs to be a coach where you can say he's a father figure, he's a mentor, he's everything that a coach is. When he goes to a game he knows his job, he can change.

"I don't like to say coaches are good, but I see a good coach when he can take a team of players to the next level from where they are, from when he signed them or found them."
"Maybe before the pre-season starts or maybe a week in pre-season [Chiefs will reveal signings]. Definitely knowing Chiefs, they want to keep it a surprise, they want to come up and make headlines," says McCarthy.
McCarthy, who won two league titles in a five-year spell with Chiefs, expects the Soweto giants to be making hectic moves to halt a three-year trophy drought under Komphela, considering the their arch-rivals Orlando Pirates announced nine new signings recently.
Amakhosi were targeting CAF Champions League winner Patrice Carteron as a contender to replace the departed Komphela, but the French coach has ended speculation over his future by taking charge of Egyptian giants Al-Ahly.
