Ok, we understand how desperate you are to win that client dearly.

Probably your cash flow depends on bringing that client and you have spent days fine-tuning the pitch that you need to present at the next meeting.

In a bid to win it, and ensuring that you present the best pitch to clinch that deal, you have put on extra hours to perfect the pitch. But while you do that, you have been depriving your body of enough rest and sleeping time.

According to experts, the lack of sleep creates many problems, including complications to your health, accidents and sometimes one becomes forgetful.

All of these are detrimental to the growth of your business. Sadly, entrepreneurs who are seeking to prove their ability may overwork themselves to the grave, but they may not achieve their targets.

In his enlightening article titled: 14 Daily habits for business owners to achieve life and career success for jeffbullas.com, Jeff Bullas encourages entrepreneurs to develop a consistent sleep cycle.

He proposes one to adherer to a laid down sequence and when it is done correctly, the body will adjust over time, and only then can it be called a habit.

A routine that is followed daily automatically becomes part of you and if you break the routine, your body will complain.

“Getting up and going to bed at the same time every day is key to being alert and getting the most out of life. If you can train yourself to become an early riser, you can get more done before anyone else is even awake.”

With loads of problems to solve, sleep will not come easily. Instead, try to offload your mind before you sleep. “It’s difficult to sleep when your mind is full of worries and concerns. Try writing them all down in 750 words, and you’ll be improving your writing at the same time,” added Bullas.

Regular breaks are a good way to relieve your stress and increase your work output. “A daily walk before or after lunch. The one habit I maintain to be productive and help my business grow is…I go for a daily walk before or after lunch,” a post by CB Nation claimed.

Not only are breaks good for your health, but they are also an opportunity to think things carefully out of the office and when you are not under pressure. It is proven that the mind is creative when it is relaxed and when there are no targets to be met.

CB Nation added: “I need that time to reboot my brain, to focus on the three goals I set for each day and take stock of where I am with them. Most importantly, it allows my brain to think creatively and objectively on issues that have either arisen during the morning or remain unresolved/ongoing. I find this daily habit to greatly improve my afternoon productivity.”

Not every plan or strategy will work out the same way you wanted to. In business, get ready to be disappointed. Create room for plan B or C, and most of all, be prepared to realign your thinking to suit the current trends.

When you least expect it, things will take a different turn altogether, leaving you in a pool of debts. If you fail to readjust, your business will become extinct.

The Balance Small Business said: “Business success requires the ability to adapt to changing situations. Nothing ever goes exactly as planned. The world of business is full of surprises and unforeseen events.”

Not every business transaction will be concluded the same way as the previous one. As a business owner, you must be ready to accept that condition yourself for that possibility.

Experience will teach you to detect problems on time before they manifest and overtake you. If you envisage a problem, you can change course and map a new way before you are overwhelmed.

“Using the habit of adaptability allows business owners to respond to circumstances with the ability to change course and act without complete information. Being flexible allows us to respond to changes without being paralyzed with fear and uncertainty” the Balance Small Business continued.

Billionaire entrepreneur, Jeff Bezos once said: “A company shouldn’t get addicted to being shiny because shiny doesn’t last.” Bezos’ wisdom was that things that look good outside may not be of much importance in life.

In other words, all that glitters is not gold. And Jeff Bullas on his website jeffbullas.com added emphasis to the statement.

Bullas said: “Think about how you spend. When you shop, are you investing in your future or simply buying things that promise to make you feel good? Keep an eye on how you spend and make sure you only invest in things that will help you achieve your goals.”

Monitor and record every transaction in your business. Only pursue the investments that add value to your business.
