Céline Dion’s Son, 14, Promises To Help Raise Siblings At René Angélil’s Funeral

Celine Dion's 14-year-old son Rene-Charles is determined to keep his father’s memory alive, and he started by giving an overwhelmingly sweet speech at his father's funeral on Jan. 22.

He said that to help his mom, he would help raise his two 5-year-old brothers.

This is so sweet and yet devastatingly sad. Celine and Rene’s 14 year old son Rene-Charles gave a beautiful eulogy at the 78-year-old’s funeral on Jan. 22, and what he had to say was incredibly wise beyond his years.

“Fifteen years is not a long time for a son to get to know his father,” he said, addressing the crowd of mourners at the Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal.

“You had a busy life, but we were communicating through golf, hockey, poker and smoked meat… and a lot of other wonderful food, bonding more and more as time went by,” the teen recounts connecting with his father through interests more than words, but the close relationship is amazing considering how hard-working and famous his manager and musician father was.

The saddest thing is that his 5-year-old twin brothers will never have the same opportunity.

“You left me now with enough good memories of you to share with my younger brothers,” he said of young Nelson and Eddy. “As they grow older, without you being around, I’ll make sure to pass on what I’ve learned from you.

You are a tough act to follow, but with your help, everything’s gonna be fine. Dad, I promise you here that we’re all going to live up to your standards.” - Online Sources
