The latest single by Diamond Platinumz, featuring legendary rhumba maestro Koffi Olomide has sent the charts into a tailspin. 

A week after premiering, the audio had generated nearly 2 million views on YouTube alone, sending pirates into a scramble to capitalise, shooting their own video versions. 

When the official video premiered on December 1, the hype had already been created, setting the tone for the song to possibly become a December anthem. 

And the 3.5 million views it generated will yield almost $3.000 in revenue from YouTube alone. 


The online channel pays $1.000 for every 1 million accumulated views. On the third day, it had peaked at 5 million views. 

The exact amount made on video depends on various factors, with experts saying that it ranges between $1,000 to $2,000 per million views, translating to $0.002, or one-fifth of a cent per click. 
Daimond Platinumz and Koffi Olomide 

After eight months, the video has attained 79 million views. At this pace, the mellow beat visual could easily surpass the 100 million mark, a feat recently achieved by South African singer Master KG recently, with his danceable song “Jerusarema”. 

The Bongo Flava artiste becomes the leading East African musician to accumulate in excess of 900 million views on video watching platform YouTube.

His most popular video is the “Yope remix” featuring Innos’ B from Congo, which had attained 73 million views in six months earlier this year. 

The most-watched video by an African artist is currently held by Djadja featuring Aya Nakamura sitting at 600 million views.

Waah released in time for the Christmas festive season, will definitely become a December tune. The danceable offering features sleek moves courtesy of Koffi, known for his exquisite dress code and dance moves. 

The Soukous guru added rare impetus to the widely accepted genre.

Meanwhile, Jah Prayzah’s single “Mwana Wamambo” attained 160,000 views in a day, setting a record as the most watched video by a Zimbabwean artiste.
